Verification Standards
Local Legends uses a Trust Ladder approach to verification. We deliberately avoid collecting sensitive government identification for standard accounts; trust is earned through verified contact methods, evidence of real work, and community feedback.
1. Email Verification
Every account verifies an email address before publishing a public profile or sending a customer inquiry.
2. Phone Verification
Optional but encouraged. Phone-verified accounts gain a small badge on their public page and unlock community features faster.
3. Creator Verification
Creator-verified accounts have demonstrated real work through a meaningful portfolio, complete profile, and verified contact information. No government ID is required.
4. Business Verification
For accounts representing a registered business, we accept (but do not require) supporting documentation. We may verify a business website, public business listings, and a registered business name. Sensitive owner identification is not collected.
5. Community Verification (planned — not yet active)
Community Verification is a planned future rung. It is not available today: there is currently no way to apply for, be reviewed for, or be awarded Community Verified status. When it launches, it will be built over time through authenticated reviews, sustained activity, and consistent reputation.
What verification does not mean
Verification confirms identity, contact information, or legitimate business presence only. It is not an endorsement, recommendation, certification, or guarantee of a creator's work quality, pricing, licensing, insurance, timeliness, or the outcome of any project. Local Legends does not inspect work, supervise projects, or guarantee results. Badges and Recognition levels reflect verified information and community feedback — they are not a promise of future performance.
Always do your own due diligence before hiring: review portfolios and reviews, confirm any licensing or insurance your project requires, and agree on scope and price directly with the creator.
Reviews must come from someone other than the profile owner. Creators cannot review themselves, and self-authored reviews are blocked and excluded from ratings and recognition.
Our team reserves the right to require additional checks where fraud or impersonation is suspected.
